It’s a big day for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Valve’s tactical shooter mainstay has Please login or register to see this link. , and it’s Please login or register to see this link. called “Danger Zone.”

The change to free-to-play is pretty straightforward. The base game is now entirely free, giving players instant access to “all game modes, matchmaking, and a limited set of item drops and weapon cases.” However, there’s also the option to spend $15 to attain “Prime” status, which drops you into a special matchmaking pool and makes you eligible for “Prime-exclusive souvenir items, item drops, and weapon cases.”

As for battle royale, Counter-Strike’s take on the mode to end all modes is of a smaller scale than genre behemoths like Fortnite and PUBG, with player counts clocking in at 16-18 depending on whether you queue up solo or in a squad of two or three. Guns will behave the same as they do in other CS:GO modes, but you’ll have to scramble to find weapons and cash—which you can use to buy more weapons and have them delivered to your position by drones. You’ll also be able to earn money by completing special mini-missions like contracts and hostage rescues.

In addition, you’ll have access to a tablet that can be used to track deliveries and opponents’ positions. So basically, Valve has made a battle royale mode out of ordering from Amazon during the holiday season.

MENLO PARK, CA—Facebook has hired the fierce warrior Drax the Destroyer as its new Head of Satire Detection to help the company and users at large distinguish between satire and fake news, the social network announced at a press conference Friday.
The notorious literalist will comb through viral stories rapidly spreading across Facebook and flag stories as satire or fake news using his impressive ability to properly interpret the subtle meaning of metaphors, allegory, and satire.
“No satire goes over my head. My reflexes are too fast. I would catch it,” Drax said to a crowd of reporters at Facebook headquarters. “I am very excited to work with this company. Now, where is the book filled with human faces for me to start combing through with this comb that was mentioned?” When Drax’s handlers explained that Facebook is actually just a website, he nodded sagely. “Ah, a location filled with the webs of deadly spiders. Where are they, so I may kill them?”
He then spotted a cobweb in the corner and lept at it savagely, crying out, “METAPHOR!” as he stabbed the “website” to death.
At publishing time, Drax had flagged every news story and satire article on Facebook as fake news after taking every single one of them 100% literally. The company was said to be “very pleased” with his performance so far.

Licensing and support lifecycles are not really the easiest topics to illustrate.

Windows 7's five years of extended support will expire on January 14, 2020—exactly one year from today. After this date, security fixes will no longer be freely available for the operating system that's Please login or register to see this link. .
As always, the end of free support does not mean the end of support entirely. Microsoft has long offered paid support options for its operating systems beyond their normal lifetime, and Windows 7 is no different. What is different is the way that paid support will be offered. For previous versions of Windows, companies had to enter into a support contract of some kind to continue to receive patches. For Windows 7, however, the extra patches will simply be an optional extra that can be added to an existing volume license subscription—no separate support contract needed—on a per-device basis.
These Please login or register to see this link.  (ESU) will be available for three years after the 2020 cut-off, with prices escalating each year.
As an alternative, Microsoft is offering all three years of ESUs to customers of the new Please login or register to see this link.  (WVD) service at no extra cost. This service offers cloud-hosted virtual machines running Windows 7 plus whatever applications are needed, and those virtual machines will continue to be patched into 2023. WVD uses existing Windows Enterprise E3 licenses, and it runs on the full range of Azure virtual machines, with no additional costs incurred. This includes, for example, GPU-equipped VMs, meaning that WVD should be usable for a wide range of workloads, just as long as running them in the cloud in the first place is acceptable.
Office 365 ProPlus—the name given to the continuously updated subscription version of Office—will continue to be supported on Windows 7, but only with the ESUs applied.
Similar policies exist for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2. These also drop out of free support in one year. For on-premises deployments, customers will be able to buy the Extended Security Updates, but workloads in Azure will receive all three years of fixes for free.

The refund change is not related to, but does follow the Better Business Bureau of Eastern North Carolina doling out an F rating for the Fortnite maker, based on scores of unanswered complaints lodged with the bureau. Most of those complaints involved unauthorized or improper charges, and poor response to customers resolving their accounts.

Those that have access to Nintendo Switch Online are likely familiar with the included NES titles with the subscription. Though Nintendo adds a handful of new games to the lineup each month (Zelda 2 and Blaster Master are Jan. 2019's new additions) many fans have been clamoring for Super Nintendo games to also be added. While nothing has been officially stated at this time, it seems a datamine might have let the cat out of the bag a little early, as Twitter user Please login or register to see this link. has discovered a list of 22 SNES games within the data for the NES Online app, which were reportedly added in the last Switch software update. The 22 titles are as follows:

Super Mario Kart Super Soccer Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past Demon's Crest Yoshi's Island Stunt Race FX Kirby's Dream Course Pop'n Twinbee Star Fox Contra 3 Kirby Super Star Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts Kirby's Dreamland 3 Super Metroid Super Mario World Pilotwings F-Zero Star Fox 2 Super Punch Out! The Legend of the Mystical Ninja Super Mario All Stars Breath of Fire 2 This list manages to differ from what the SNES Classic offers, with Final Fantasy VI, Super Mario RPG, Castlevania IV, Donkey Kong Country, Mega Man X, Earthbound, and Secret of Mana missing from what would supposedly be given through the Nintendo Switch Online service. However, these titles could be planned for future monthly updates rather than being rolled out all at once. Presumably, since the NES games have extra features, such as online play and save states, these would be carried over to the SNES games as well. At the time of writing, though, nothing is concrete, and the list is merely a datamine with unconfirmed information.
