news Epic stops work on 'Unreal Tournament' sequel because of 'Fortnite'

Epic has officially downed tools on its long-in-development Unreal Tournament revival, company boss Tim Sweeney has confirmed.

It's not a huge surprise - the Fortnite maker has been rather busy focusing on its battle royal phenomenon, not to mention prepping its Please login or register to see this link. . Still, it was thought a skeleton crew might have been aboard the Unreal Tournament ship. Alas, not.

"Unreal Tournament remains available in the store but isn't actively developed," Sweeney told Please login or register to see this link. . It's a change in message from two months ago, when Epic admitted the game was not making much progress but, seemingly, was still in the works.

Progress on the new Unreal Tournament had been slow for some time. But in 2017 Epic was still referring to the game as being in a "pre-alpha" state, even as it experimented with new features such as a Please login or register to see this link. .

I'd love another Unreal Tournament, but it is understandable why Epic mothballed its attempt at recreating the series' arena-based frag-happy gameplay for a new audience. Epic already has the biggest audience in the world, for Fortnite - a game Please login or register to see this link. is probably more interesting.

This has been for like years now. I use to make maps for UT4 back in the day but the seen and the forum after fortnight came out and became a thing dried up and most of epic staff got moved to that so what was left felt like 5 people so i'm a little suppressed this announcement took this long.
All in all it's kinda sad UT4 was shaping up to be a good game for people that are into 90's fast paced shooters and could of easily killed TOXIKK and other games that where trying to bring back that area of games. Epic could of launched launched UT4 back in mid 2016 ~ early 2017 if they just doped the hole "alpha early access" BS and made a few more of there one maps and content instead of relining on the community to do it for them.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), an international animal rights group, recently launched its ‘Goblin Lives Matter’ campaign, an activist movement opposing the indiscriminate killing of goblins. The campaign is a response to increased animosity towards the species over the past few months.
PETA advocates a controversial ‘no kill’ policy forbidding the harming of any sentient life regardless of reason. The same principle, it argues, should apply to goblins as well.
On the other hand, many hold that killing goblins is justified due to their harmful relationship with humans. Goblins have a reputation for raiding human settlements, burning them to the ground and capturing the women for use as sex slaves. While well-populated areas are unaffected, many rural communities remain at risk. As a result, many local governments contract hunters in an effort to curb the goblin population. The most famous of these hunters, an enigma simply known as ‘Goblin Slayer’, has even inspired a fantasy light novel series.
Despite evidence that goblins are a direct threat to humanity, PETA remains adamant in its goal to protect all nonhuman creatures.
“A life is a life, no matter who it belongs to,” a PETA spokesperson writes in a Facebook post. “Like humans, goblins are emotional creatures. They have families and care for them. Every year, thousands of goblin children are orphaned or murdered! #goblinlivesmatter”.
PETA is currently organizing a missionary trip into goblin territories to provide relief aid and conduct peace efforts. The operation hopes to establish a friendly liaison between the human and goblin races. Despite numerous warnings from authorities, PETA is confident that the expedition will go smoothly.

Fans of animated Japanese adult entertainment have suffered another blow last month, with just days after Tumblr announced and implemented a system to ban all adult content site-wide, one of the most popular western hentai websites, HentaiHaven, has been shut down.
The site’s sudden disappearance has left many fans shocked and dismayed. “What the f**k am I supposed to do on Christmas now? Visit my family?” commented one user, BlackerBible, on Twitter.
Although the actual reason behind the sites abrupt closure is still ambiguous, sources close to Anime Maru have indicated the possible involvement of the Russian government. A leaked cable from the desk of Alexander Bortnikov, current director of the Federal Security Service, implicates the use of internal resources to have HentaiHaven removed from the internet, and to help reduce the impact that animated pornography (“большой жир аниме грудь“) was having on the Russian populous nationally.
Russia has yet to release any official statements on the matter, though the attack is a possible response to the surprise revelation from Pornhub earlier this month that Russia is one of the worlds largest consumers of hentai.

“Its typical Russian geopolitical posturing” stated Hugo Voloshyn, professor of Eastern Media & Political Globalization at Yale University. “They start off fairly coy and tsundere, happy to brush things aside or simply ignore problems until they go away, but when push comes to shove, they have no hesitation to go full yandere, especially if they feel the situation gets out of control and could potentially leave them embarrassed, which I believe is what has happened here.”
The actual facts surrounding HentaiHaven’s shutdown may never be revealed. But the growing prevalence of censorship or removal of adult content on a growing number of platforms  has left observers worried that 2019 may become the year of the “Waifupocolypse”, with additional rumors suggesting its only a matter of time before is next on the firing line.

If there's an impending western release, you can usually count on Australia's Classification Board to leak the details prior to an official announcement. Atlus has submitted the Nintendo 3DS title Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth to be rated, which, as of today, it has received a M, a typical rating for games in the Persona series. Thus, it's safe to say that a western release reveal is imminent. Persona Q2 is a sequel to 2014's Etrian Odyssey and Persona mash-up, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. The sequel will focus on the cast from Persona 5 interacting with characters from 3 and 4, as well as the feMC protagonist from Persona 3 Portable. Koch Media is listed as the publisher on the Australian page, likely meaning that its subsidiary Deep Silver will be in charge of publishing the game in European and Australian territories.

MENLO PARK, CA—Facebook has hired the fierce warrior Drax the Destroyer as its new Head of Satire Detection to help the company and users at large distinguish between satire and fake news, the social network announced at a press conference Friday.
The notorious literalist will comb through viral stories rapidly spreading across Facebook and flag stories as satire or fake news using his impressive ability to properly interpret the subtle meaning of metaphors, allegory, and satire.
“No satire goes over my head. My reflexes are too fast. I would catch it,” Drax said to a crowd of reporters at Facebook headquarters. “I am very excited to work with this company. Now, where is the book filled with human faces for me to start combing through with this comb that was mentioned?” When Drax’s handlers explained that Facebook is actually just a website, he nodded sagely. “Ah, a location filled with the webs of deadly spiders. Where are they, so I may kill them?”
He then spotted a cobweb in the corner and lept at it savagely, crying out, “METAPHOR!” as he stabbed the “website” to death.
At publishing time, Drax had flagged every news story and satire article on Facebook as fake news after taking every single one of them 100% literally. The company was said to be “very pleased” with his performance so far.
