When Sony initially announced the final list of 20 games that would be available on the PlayStation Classic, Please login or register to see this link. that the selection was full of "glaring omissions" that "might annoy you." A quick analysis of the source files for the system's open source emulator, though, suggests that many other well-remembered PlayStation games were at least considered at some point in the hardware's development.

Sony has Please login or register to see this link. for the many open source components of the PlayStation Classic to comply with the requirements of the GNU General Public License. Buried in the system's "title.h" file is a list of enumerated variable names and associated PlayStation serial numbers referencing various games. That list includes all the games packaged with the PlayStation Classic (in both Western and Japanese markets), as well as dozens more that are not included in the box. Elsewhere in the source code, many of those variables (including ones for unplayable games) are used to modify certain emulator settings when that game is selected.

Here's the list of referenced but unplayable games (along with the variable name/region code references found in the source code):

  • Armored Core: Master of Arena ("ARMORED_CORE_MASTER_OF_ARENA")
  • Chocobo's Dungeon ("CHOCOBOS_JP")
  • Colin McRae Rally ("COLIN_MCRAE_RALLY_EU")
  • Crash Bandicoot ("CRASH_BANDICOOT_EU/US")
  • Crash Bandicoot 2 ("CRASH_BANDICOOT_2_EU/JPUS")
  • Toy Story 2 ("DISNEY_TOY_STORY_2_EU")

  • Driver ("DRIVER_EU/US")
  • Ehrgeiz ("EHRGEIZ_JP")
  • Fighting Force ("FIGHTING_FORCE_US")
  • Gran Turismo ("GRAN_TURISMO_EU/JP/US")
  • Grand Theft Auto 2 ("GRAND_THEFT_AUTO_2_EU/US")
  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone ("HARRY_POTTER_AND_THE_PHILOSOPHERS_STONE_EU")
  • Kagero ("KAGERO_JP")
  • Klonoa: Door to Phantomile ("KLONOA_DOOR_TO_PHANTAMILE_JP/US" [sic])
  • Kula World ("KULA_WORLD_EU")
  • Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver ("LEGACY_OF_KAIN_SOUL_REAVER_EU/US")
  • Medal of Honor ("MEDAL_OF_HONOR_EU/US")
  • Medievil ("MEDIEVIL_EU/US")
  • Mega Man Legends ("MEGA_MAN_LEGENDS_EU/JP/US" [sic])
  • Mr. Driller G ("MR_DRILLER_G_JP")
  • Paca Paca Passion ("PACAPACA_PASSION_JP")
  • Parappa the Rapper ("PARAPPA_THE_RAPPER_US")
  • Parasite Eve ("PARASITE_EVE_DISC_1_US" and "PARASITE_EVE_DISC_2_US") (Note: The Japanese version of this game is available on the Japanese PlayStation Classic)
  • RayStorm ("RAY_STORM_JP")
  • Ridge Racer ("RIDGE_RACER_EU/JP/US")
  • Silent Hill ("SILENT_HILL_EU/JP/US")
  • Spec Ops: Stealth Patrol ("SPEC_OPS_STEALTH_PATROL_US")
  • Street Fighter Alpha 3 ("STREET_FIGHTER_ALPHA_3_US")
  • Street Fighter Ex Plus Alpha ("STREET_FIGHTER_EX_PLUS_EU/JP/US")
  • Suikoden ("SUIKODEN_EU/JP/US")

  • Tomb Raider 2 ("TOMB_RAIDER_2_EU/JP/US")
  • Tomba ("TOMBA_JP/US")

  • Wild Arms 2 ("WILD_ARMS_2_DISC_1_JP" and "WILD_ARMS_2_DISC_2_JP")
  • Xevious 3D/G+ ("XEVIOUS_3D_G_JP")

To be clear, there's no indication (yet) that these game files are actually still hidden somewhere on the PlayStation Classic itself. But the extant references in the emulator's source code heavily suggest that all of these titles were tested on the PlayStation Classic hardware at some point in its development.

Perhaps these games were just used to test the general viability and quality of the system's emulation. More likely, though, is that these titles were among those being considered for the system's final software lineup, which was Please login or register to see this link. starting in September.

It's hard to say for sure why any of these games didn't make it into the final product. Licensing/rights issues with third-party publishers, problems with emulation quality, or presumed appeal to the target audience could all be to blame. In any case, these remnant references offer an enticing hint behind the scenes into Sony's decision-making process and a glimpse of what could have been for Please login or register to see this link. .

Lol I commented this on the last PS Classic thing you posted, I said that the extra games where probably used for testing or early inclusions befoul licences were finalized but yet again it proves the PC Classic is more capable than it lets on.

The "Sony hasย Please login or register to see this link. " and "Please login or register to see this link. " is not source code its just theย GNU (General Public License) docs they have to publish because of the open source code thing. They do have to make the source public at some point but i'm guessing there just going to wait till someone dose it for them.

I'm still not a fan of the whole emulation thing. I'd love it if it was official hardware with real firmware. But if it's like this, then what's so better about it from a $15 RaspberryPi?

As so often happens, it seems there were minor regional differences between the Nintendo Direct broadcasts for the east and west. Japanese fans were treated to games missing from the North American and European versions.
First up is Dragon Quest Rivals, a free download first released on mobile back in 2017. It's an online card-based battler in the Hearthstone mould with characters from across the RPG series and cross-play between Switch and mobile.

Next is a cutesy baseball game from Konami, Jikkyuu Powerful Pro Baseball, launching this year. Part of a long-running series, it's arguably most notable for being from Konami - they still make games, see! - but we're not the biggest baseball fans. Four-player co-op sounds interesting, though, if you like a spot of rounders.

Finally we have a crossover, Doraemon: Nobitaโ€™s Story of Seasons, and we're a bit jealous. It appears to mix classic Harvest Moon-style gameplay with the cast of Doraemon in a beautiful watercolour world. Check out the trailer:
Looks lovely, no? Hopefully we'll get some information about a western release soon

LO ANGELES, CA โ€“ Crowds gathered outside of the Los Angeles Supreme store earlier this afternoon in anticipation for the skateboarding and streetwear brandโ€™s latest release in collaboration with anime series Miss Kobayashiโ€™s Dragon Maid. The collaboration features a limited run of various clothing and accessories incorporating Dragon Maid characters with the iconic Supreme box logo.
Fans began lining up hours in advance in hopes of being among the first to partake in the launch. Unlike previous releases, the launch not only attracted the usual crowd of brand enthusiasts but fans of the Dragon Maid anime as well. Supreme collectors and so called โ€œhypebeastsโ€ found themselves beaten to the punch as anime fans began lining up hours before others had even arrived.
โ€œIโ€™ve been to Anime Expo before so itโ€™s actually quite a relief to only have to wait for 12 hours before getting the opportunity to buy some merch,โ€ stated anime fan Brian Denmond who had been in line since the night before. โ€œNormally you have to line up for a badge before you can even begin to queue for the merchant hall.โ€
โ€œIโ€™m not sure what this Supreme thing is but once I heard from my Discord group that there were going to be Kanna shirts I knew I had to get down here,โ€ another young man near the beginning of the line told our correspondent.
Others in line did not provide such positive feedback, feeling cheated by the sudden influx of anime fans that had taken over the front portion of the line.
โ€œThis is total bull,โ€ said Nathan Dallas dressed in the finest name brands his parentsโ€™ money could buy. โ€œIโ€™m always here for the latest drop, but at this rate those damn weebs are going to grab all the good shit before I even get up there.โ€
When the door finally opened, all merchandise was reportedly sold out within 15 minutes. Those who had been lucky enough to make a purchase were last seen heading towards the Los Angeles Convention Center to begin saving their spot for Anime Expo.

Mass entertainment company Disney made an informal industry announcement yesterday that it had begun plans to produce a series of live action adaptations of classic Studio Ghibli films. With live action versions of Dumbo, Aladdin, and Lion King already scheduled for release in just 2019 alone, Disney stated it had started to look into other properties to also give the live action treatment. Disney is already known to have been a major distributor of Studio Ghibli movies throughout North America so the move was seen as the next logical step for the company as is begins to run out of movies of its own to convert.
No official statement was given as to which Ghibli films were being considered for a live action remake although rumors pointed to Spirited Away, Howlโ€™s Moving Castle, and My Neighbor Totoro as likely candidates. Disney did state that the release would feature โ€œmajor Hollywood talentโ€ with insider leaks revealing that Will Smith had already been contacted for a potential role. Major director talent from industry veterans James Cameron and Tim Burton was also rumored to be on the table.
Disney assured fans that the completely necessary live action films would still follow the original stories of the Ghibli films with additional alterations only to โ€œmodernizeโ€ and โ€œbroaden the appealโ€ of the movies โ€“ something which definitely hasnโ€™t had a history of diminishing the original tone in other adaptations. The colorful imaginative worlds of Miyazakiโ€™s original works would also certainly not be lost in the conversion to the gritty realism of modern computer generated graphics.
No set release dates have been announced so far, although most expect the first of the live action Ghibli films to arrive sometime in 2020. Not to be outdone, production company Legendary Entertainment also announced that it had begun preliminary production on a live action Beyblade film. Legendaryโ€™s movie is set to be directed by Micheal Bay and will feature a team of young heroes who battle hyper realistic robotic spinning weapons against each other.
